of procrastination, to do lists, and achieving writer dreams

I've started trying out this new thing where I make a to do list on a little pink sticky note and then stick said sticky on the inside of my laptop as a constant reminder of the papers I need to write and the emails I need to send and the chapters I need to read. There is a certain satisfaction that comes from physically crossing something off a list, and that satisfaction motivates me to do my work and is the most effective way to combat procrastination that I've found so far. One of these days I'll be able to throw away that little pink sticky with every item crossed off, rather than transferring the uncrossed items to the next day's sticky. Procrastination is a problem for me, but my love affair with to do lists and little pink stickies may just win this battle. Thanks pink stickies, I owe ya one.
In other news, ya girl got published! Guys! Do you know how exciting this is? 250 of my precious words were printed in this week's edition of BYU's newspaper, the Universe. My little writer heart is so proud. So so proud. And I scored a job as a content writer for a clothing boutique (I just write descriptions for clothes and I make fun of myself as I do it but you've got to start somewhere, right?) Also, you are reading the words of the newest writer for The Student Review, a completely student run newspaper here in Provo. Basically it's BYU's alternative newspaper since the Universe is primarily composed of journalism majors and some of us other humanities majors want our voices floating around in cyber space. So pretty much I'm really excited because WRITER DREAMS ARE BEING ACCOMPLISHED. NEW YORK HERE I COME! Throw some confetti and have a dance party to Taylor Swift's new album. It's what I'm doing.

Sincerely, mad
