A Waffle House Weekend

Remember that senior year bucket list thing I had? It's been a while, huh? Well guess what?

I went to Waffle House. It was kinda sketchy, but I guess I am officially a Georgia high schooler! I guess WaHo (see that? i even used the hip slang word for it. i really am official) is like a rite of passage and a part of the high school experience. Whatever. We can thank my oceanography friends for this one. (we can also thank them for the 61 pictures on my phone. honestly we could have had a 3 minute movie on how to eat waffle house with all the pictures they took of me cutting and then eating my first bite.) We were going to go to Los Hermanos, but then they found out I've never been to WaHo and, well, you see how that turned out. Anyways, I went and it was good but kinda nasty at the same time. A little like IHOP but, you know, not. Because Waffle House is definitely sketchier than IHOP.

 

The ocean crew! We're just missing Justin and Chase- one lives an hour away and one was taking the SAT. I am so proud of us. We suggested an oceanography class hang out on Friday and then did something on Saturday. In less than 24 hours we planned and executed an outing. Anyone who knows me and my friends knows that that is quite an accomplishment. Usually it takes several times of talking about hanging out and even then, half of us don't show up.

And then because I thought it was cute, here's Benny boy and his friend Aiden taking a selfie. Robes and everything. Love it.

Hunter Hayes

So remember about a week ago when I said I crossed more off the senior bucket list? I almost forgot to tell you all about it!

On the 17th Ally and I went to go see Hunter Hayes at the Fox Theater! It was amazing. I had never been to a concert before, and to go see one at the Fox was so neat. I love the Fox. I really need to get there more often.

We started the night out with Chipotle and pictures outside.

I love Hunter Hayes. I would tell you which part was my favorite, but that would pretty much just be every song.

In Which We Discuss Mallory's Homework Theory

About 8 o'clock every night I commit to really getting things done. I've had enough time to decompress after school, check every form of social media I'm on (twice... or three times), exercise, eat dinner, and procrastinate. 8 o'clock is crunch time. So Tuesday night at 8, I dragged my backpack out of the corner and pulled out my agenda to see what torturous assignments my teachers had selected for that night (just kidding. it's not really that bad. I actually really like school. but more on that later). Then, as I walked through the kitchen, I thought, "Alright. How are we going to start this?" It was at that point that I passed a Ziploc baggy of Hershey's kisses. So naturally my next thought was, "With chocolate. We will start with chocolate. That is always a good idea." And then I proceeded to eat some chocolate, print out an amorization table for Economics, and attempt an Oceanography test review. That sounds productive, right?

So just a sneak peek- I was really bad at blogging this week, but I was productive in a different way. I checked another item off my senior year bucket list! Can you guess what it is?

Yellow Daisy Festival

Let's talk about Yellow Daisy. It was the first thing on my senior year bucket list, and since it only happens once a year (and in September at that), I really only had one opportunity to go. So after school yesterday almost the whole crew went. We were just missing Dad and Ben. 

It was so fun! There are so many things there it's almost overwhelming. We had a time crunch so only saw about a third, but it was almost nice to have to push ourselves along.

I've decided that when I'm older and either engaged or newly married (whatever I'll be in September), I'm coming to Yellow Daisy to get some cute stuff for my house. Signs and initials and whatnot. Doesn't that sound fun?

Below are some of the highlights. If it wasn't for the fact that I will proably be away at college this time next year, I would totally say I'm coming again next time!

^^^I loved these little metal animals! The left pic shows lots of flowers and then a giraffe. If you look closely, you'll see that the right pic has a little reindeer family!^^^

^^^They had King of Pops! The stick shown is all that was left of my chocolate sea salt by the time I thought to take a picture...^^^

^^^There was a guy there that made bracelets out of bicycle spokes. If you look hard enough you can make out some of his bracelets hanging on bike chains. It was such a creative set up!^^^

^^^Mom, Meredith, and I jumped on the bandwagon and got keychains. The oh-so-typical teenage girl's dream: chevron, neon, and monogram.^^^

Senior Year Bucket List

This is my senior year bucket list.

School starts back up on Wednesday, and I can't tell you how excited I am to finally be a senior!

Junior year was a rough year for me. By May, I was so burned out from everything- tennis team, schoolwork, the drama that inevitably comes from high school. I just crashed. I decided that I was spending too much time on things I didn't love and not enough time on things I did. I decided to stop playing tennis, stop piano lessons (something I had been doing for 12 years), and do what made me happy. I went to crossfit more, pulled out my guitar a little more often, and started a blog.

I don't want a repeat of junior year. I can do without the stress. So, to ensure a year of fun, I did several things. I quit the things I didn't love. I signed up for a couple classes just for fun. I made a senior year bucket list. This list is full of things that aren't necessarily outrageous or over the top, but fun things around where I live that I haven't really had the chance to enjoy. 

There are only two rules for this bucket list. I can't start checking things off until the first day of school, and I have until graduation to finish.

My motto for this school year is "senior year fun year." This bucket list is going to help make that happen. I am determined to have the best school year ever. Senior year? Bring it on.
